Sussex Asbestos Solutions are accredited to undertake three types of survey in accordance with MDHS 100:

Type 1 — Presumptive - Location and assessment asbestos survey

Type 2 — Sampling - Standard sampling, identification and assessment asbestos survey

Type 3 — Pre-Demolition/Refurbishment - Full access sampling and identification asbestos survey

The type of asbestos survey most appropriate will be dependent on your specific requirements.

To record asbestos in a building, our surveyor will conduct a thorough room by room survey. Any materials suspected of containing asbestos are sampled in a safe manner and analysed by one of our UKAS accredited laboratories. Details of location, condition, quantity and type of asbestos are recorded. Our trained staff can also:

• Assist with prioritising the buildings on your site for surveying purposes
• Carry out detailed building surveys to identify asbestos containing materials
• Set up a database of the results of our survey and prepare a detailed register to include CAD drawings
• If necessary, take samples of suspect materials for analysis in a UKAS (NAMAS) accredited laboratory to HSE guidelines
• Recommend the remedial action you will need to take to minimise any health risks
• Ensure that licensed asbestos removal contractors comply fully with current asbestos regulations
• Undertake airborne monitoring before, during and after asbestos removal at your site
• Provide clearance certificates on satisfactory completion of work

Please note that the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations (CAWR 2002) basic requirement is that asbestos is identified and assessed. In the majority of cases no further action is required.
